The Association of Foreign Banks in Switzerland
Welcome! The Association of Foreign Banks in Switzerland (AFBS) was founded in 1972 and is the trade association of banks and other financial institutes in Switzerland with foreign ownership or strong foreign-driven interests. The AFBS consists of the secretariat with 3 people based in Zurich and the board, assembled by some CEOs of member institutes. Membership of the Association is open to all foreign banks, securities' dealers, managers and agents of investment funds. Other legal entities can join the Association as observer without voting rights. The Association supports its members by organizing events with information on regulatory, legal and political developments in Switzerland and abroad, and promotes discussion and exchange of views among members. It represents the members' interests in the respective associations such as the Swiss Bankers' Association and the Swiss Funds and Asset Management Association, the Swiss Federal Administration, government and political bodies.
